NOCO Outlaw

by Tommy on Jun.15, 2010, under Events, Photos, Team, Videos

Woooooooooo. It was a Deity day all day long at the NOCO Outlaw! Phil Silva placed in the top 10, Alex Silva was in 4th, Joa Ladwig came out in 2nd place, and of course Sundae Rider Joel Putrah held up the world in 1st!

Joel Putrah leading Joa Ladwig into a turn. Both on Deity Midgard Topmounts.

It was an utterly awesome day! We had moms, dads, even grandmas present to watch. Special thanks goes out to team Pagan, Jim Callahan supplied some surprise schwag for all the little groms(and the big ones too!)to enjoy. Hopefully Chriszorsatrons5000 will have up some pics of the event real soon!

Here is a video from Mr. Rolo!

Diety sweep through the whole NOCO Season in my opinion!!!

Jakes Rash and Goldrush Weekend

by Tommy on Jun.03, 2010, under Events, Media, Team

The crew went up to BC last week to race in Coast Longboarding’s Jake’s Rash and UNKLE.ca’s Goldrush. It was a hectic week, filled with skating and rarely dry. At Jake’s the rain was coming down and forming puddles on the road. Team rider James Kelly battled through the rain to get 2rd place.

The first day of Goldrush was the same. Lots of rain made the track slick and everyone was throwing huge slides to control their speed. As race day came around, the rains were indecisive. The track would dry out, get wet again and their were patchy slick spots throughout the course. Heats were stacked from the beginning with some of the best racers facing each other early on in the race. One o the most memorable moments was Niko’s late pass on Scoot smith into the final right before the finish line.

At the end of the day it came down to Zak Maytum, James Kelly, Patrick Switzer, and Kevin Reimer in a rainy final. Zak and James got tangled up in the bridge corner which left it up to Kevin and Patrick to battle it out through the turns. Patrick over drifted in the final corner and Kevin came out with the win.

In the consolation final Team Rider Tommy Watson faced off against Billy Bones, Louis Pilloni and Kyle Martin. Louis finished out front followed by Billy then Kyle then Tommy. Huge thanks to UNKLE.CA for hosting an awesome event and all the sponsors who made it possible.

Maryhill Freeride – Raw Run

by Dorian on Apr.01, 2010, under Events, Media, Team, Videos

On an impulse Tom, Connor, and I decided to up and leave SLC at 11 PM Thursday night for the Maryhill Freeride. After some 12 sketchy hours of traveling we got to Mary just in time to hop on the giant hay baling truck and help Deano set up the course. With a 30ish MPH tailwind and a hay hook it felt like we were pirates. After a couple hours of work we were all done and Deano left us in charge of protecting the hill (you know, from invaders) while he was gone. Skating ensued – check it out.

Oh and don’t forget to buckle your helmets!!!

After setting up hay bails Friday we got mary to ourselves for a while.

I also want to give a huge thanks to Deano for setting up the event, Nersh for helping Tommy and I get there, and Nimbus for the trucks. Happy skating :)

Albuquerque Winter Outlaw

by Tommy on Feb.12, 2010, under Events, Media, Team, Videos

Thanks to Devon from ABQ for throwing an awesome event! Riders from all over the southwest cam down upon Albuquerque, New Mexico to escape the snow and skate some hills! The race format was one of the most fun I’ve seen. Riders were split into groups of four, and each line of four started out front, in the back, one forward and so forth. Everyone got to skate in every heat and winners were determined using a points system. For the final heat we moved to a neighborhood backed into the hills with a nice sandy left hander. Good times!! Thanks to all the sponsors who threw down for the event too! Ghoti Longboards, Timeship Racing, Orangatang, Nersh and Sundae Skates through down swag for the event. Hopefully we’ll see more races going on in the South West DH scene this year! See you guys out there!
